Harrisburg Sports show update.

Well fellow Boondocker's, The other day I received a call from a salesman for the "Great American Outdoors Show" formerly the "Eastern Sports and Outdoors Show".
As some of you know the NRA has been granted the rights to this new show and there was controversy about them not allowing the sales of firearms at the show.
I had already decided that I would not participate in this show due to this reason.
Well, during the phone call the other day I was informed that the NRA has decided to change their stance on this and is now allowing the sale of firearms at the show.
Due to this decision I will now be once again participating in the show that a large majority of US helped to shut down last year.
I hope that we can now join together to make this show what it should be "The biggest and best sportsman's show ever". I applaud the NRA for doing what was right and changing this rule.

Come join us February the 1st-9th 2014 at the Farm show complex in Harrisburg, PA
Corner booth #3914

Re: Harrisburg Sports show update.

I believe the main reason for the NRA not allowing such sales was far different than the other promotor who was seemingly just against 'assault' rifles. The NRA was attempting to keep from hurting the local shops by not allowing the 'big operators' to sell at the show.

I was behind the NRA taking over from the beginning and support whatever decision they have come to regarding the sale of firearms at the show.

Where have you been? I had to work late... Oh these? Yeah, it was 'camo day' at work again .

Re: Harrisburg Sports show update.

Firearms sales were never a big part of the ESOS and that went back long before last year's hassle over Reed banning semi-auto rifles.

Now and then you might see someone carrying a box with a firearm in it, but it was never that common. More the deal that show-goers got to see the latest offerings from manufacturers and prices from participating dealers.

All shooting-related vendors, manufacturers and dealers will be in what was formerly the Boating/Fishing Hall, for the NRA's Great American Outdoors show in February.

Re: Harrisburg Sports show update.

Regarding the ESOS and the ban that ultimately killed the show. I think what got a lot of sportsmen riled up was a statement by Reed that "the primary focus of the Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show has always been hunting, and that AR-style guns don't fit in with that." And yet there were booths sold things like Samurai swords, or ShamWOWs, etc. Reed Exhibits was just being so hypocritical.
