HPA blocked

My daughter is home from college. This morning I grabbed her Laptop that I bought her. I paid for. ME! And tried to go to HPA. Unfortunately she was logged in thru her college ID. I got this. (See pic)

Some colleges, gov servers etc block anything related to or having firearms info. Likely was thrown under "other category" by default..

I'm not real techy. Maybe someone can explain this.

What does logged on through the university even mean?

She's using the computer at home, so is getting service through your internet provider, which for most people is either the cable company or phone company.

So how and why is the university involved when using the computer at home?

Adult content, well sure but nothing profane and if she is in college dorms that qualify her as a legal adult?

Just another example of the people who are getting paid by us, to educate our children are teaching them liberalism and forcing our children into,"their" safe place. I would take that computer to a computer shop and have unblocked what you want unblocked. You purchased it, your call what you want your daughter to read, not the call of some pin head academic!

The university likely has a firewall filter loaded on her computer which filters sites they have earmarked to block when logging-in with student ID which gets into University class scheduling, grades, course pages etc etc. This technology has been in existence for many years.

Thanks for the explanation.

Those with college age kids, tell them to change their major to computer security.

I'm sure there will be plenty of jobs in that field for a long time to come.

Unless the computer security war is lost altogether and people go back to paper and ink documents in a locked filing cabinet.

Cyber Security is the current terminology, and yes, it IS the field to get into these days.
