Potter County Habitat Tour

This Sunday April 29th, the Susquehannock State Forest will be holding its annual Forest/Habitat Tour. This year's tour will begin at the PA Lumber Museum and will consist of several site visits in the Lyman Run and Denton Hill area. Topics this year include an Update on the Deer Forest Study, safe chainsaw tree felling techniques with demonstration, herbicide application techniques to control competing vegetation, district timber management program (timbersale, crop tree and mowing site visits), district wildlife management program (woodcock and grouse management area site visit) and beech and chestnut seed orchard site visit. Representatives from the PA Bureau of Forestry, PA Game Commission, Penn State University, Black Forest Sportsmen's Club and the PA Lumber Museum will be in attendance. The tour is free of charge and transportation and lunch will be provided. A free tour of the Museum will be offered at the conclusion of the tour. The tour will begin at 9 am and conclude at 2 pm.
