Does anyone use stainless steel media? Is it worth buying? And I used my tufnut media over the weekend, it is abot 6 yrs old and it's only been used 2 times after I used it the basement looked like a red bomb went off in there. Is there any cure for this? Thanks mike

Re: Media

i use stainless steel media. check out stainlesssteeltumblingmedia.com. first a rotary tumbler is required as a traditional vibratory tumbler doesn't work. second for best results remove primers before tumbling. the result is brass like new inside and out. for a very small volume reloader not really worth it but for someone that does hundreds at a time, great. your red problem is dust from breakdown of media. try taking off lid and running tumbler outside for an hour before using. also put in a used dryer fabric softener pad in while tumbling.

Re: Media

I don't reload alot but I take alot of pride in my reloads and don't like the tarnish on the shells. And I took the media out of the tumbler and washed it thru a strainer and that helped but didn't know if that hurt the media.

Re: Media

i have done both with and without the lemishine. the stainless does the heavy lifting, the lemishine makes it prettier. when the brass comes out it looks better than new. even works on really old range scrounges. don't trust them but look great. tried as a test. stainless is magic.
