anyone with a chrony near pittsburgh?

I lost a phone number for Verminator...he doesn't check in here often and i'm cooking up a batch of deer loads today. wondering if anyone local has a chrony to check my "accurate" load...i hit an accuracy node in my .308 with 42gr RL15 with SGK 165 BTSP's, one ragged hole at 50 yds, under 1/2 inch at 100. i think this load is a little slow but it's VERy accurate and low recoil.

Re: anyone with a chrony near pittsburgh?

according to the sierra manual that load should be good for a fat 2500 fps. plenty good for deer under 300 yards. as long as a load shoots good don't fixate on chrony #'s. overated. deer can't tell even 100 fps. i only chrono to build my drop chart and verify over mach 1 at 1000 yards for long range competition. group size is the most important.

I would like to find someone close to me with a chrony as well. I have a couple loads I am curious about and would like to see what they are doing.

You can't get em from the couch.

Itís a little late now, I was up Bear hunting and got back last night. I really donít want to do much shooting around here this close to Deer season. But if you want to check some rounds out after deer season, I have a 100-yard range, lead sled, and Chrony. I could help you out for next year. I live out by Murrysville.

hornady, will keep you in mind. I went back out with a few diff't loads and came to two conclusions.

My gun does NOT like varget with 165 SGK's. it DOES like just about any load I feed it with RL15. i shot two consistent .7" groups with 44gr RL15 in the colder weather, and am going to mix up a dozen or so for this season. Scope is set at 1.5" high at 100, should be near dead at 200. this loads' a little hotter than the 42 gr load so we should be JUST fine.
