I like the Lyman 31141 FN I also have a Lee that is close to it .
Yes I like gas checked bullets for accuracy ?
As to powders there are a bunch you can look up and try what you think works best for you .
There is a little more to cast bullets than just casting them and loading them up!
If you, haven't do some research on lead hardness ?

I use this one in all my 30-30's including a marlin 336 waffle top,a mossberg bolt gun and a, TC Contender carbine. Ranch Dog molds are no longer available ,but NOE has a clone available. Cast of Lyman #2 alloy and sized .311 and Lubed with LBT Blue Soft, loaded with a good healthy charge of ww 748 . Deer take about 3 big hops and are DRT. Have taken at least three with this load.

Ranch Dog 311-165GC Yes it is Gas Checked

Here it is, http://noebulletmolds.com/NV/product...roducts_id=512

If you are interested PM me and I will send you some to try.

the bull shop has the 165gr ranch dog( https://bullshop.weebly.com/-30-cali...t-bullets.html ). he uses whatever alloy you want. i use a 1898 spr armory in 30-40 krag that just luvs them. 1 1/2 - 2 1/4" at 100 yards(5 shots/bench) at 1930fps with h4198 just kills deer. i did a 3/4" at 100 yards(5 shots/bench) but the shooting gods were smiling upon me!!!!

I load the 173gr FN GC that I get from Moyers. Moyer's Cast Bullets, Rifle Bullets Nice fellow to chat with....order by phone.....just like you would have done in 1970 from an advertisement!!!

I don't have the load data in front of me, and as others have said, best to try different ones and see what works best in your firearm. I don't use this to hunt with....just a plinker. But I'd have no problem using it out to 100 yards and killing any whitetail.

Powder will be a choice to get velocity and accuracy you are looking for. Gas checks will be necessary dependent on bullet hardness and velocity. Accuracy may or may not be affected by gas checks,
