Re: what brand of lead shot?

I use west coast magnum but, that's simply because that's what the local shop carries and I haven't had any problems with it.......

I do suggest using magnum shot in hunting loads due to the antimony.....

And fwiw I have used Lawrence with no complaints, and I believe they are a sister company to west coast

Re: what brand of lead shot?

Does anybody use copper or nickel plated shot in there reloads? If so do you notice a significant difference in knock down power and pattern density?

Re: what brand of lead shot?

I tried copper plated Lawrence. For the price difference which is quite a lot I don't really think there is much difference at all. It didn't even pattern much differently

Re: what brand of lead shot?

Is there a particular critter or load you are wanting to use?? I use different shot for different purposes. I use better shot for turkey loads. But you only need to order 1# or 2# of that type shot, and 2# should last a long time in turkey loads. Or are you hunting Quail?? It makes a big difference.

I can't even imagine what you are hunting to need 25# of a particular shot?? Unless you are looking for a long long term supply. Doves maybe?? Tom.

I buy it in 25# bags........I load all of my crow loads by hand......usually at least 100 shells a weekend..

Re: what brand of lead shot?

I hunt many different animals with my shotgun we go rabbit hunting almost every week during the season,i hunt pheasant, squirrel, and doves so a 25# bag doesn't last real long.I was thinking of using #6 shot for everything

Re: what brand of lead shot?

My opinion is that 7 1/2 shot is the most universal shot as long as you have the right load..........I use a pretty hot load, and for crows it works great, and believe it or not winter crows are tough freakin' birds
