Subsonics

Anyone got a good recipe for the 194 Gr Lehigh, 200 gr and 220 gr bullets for 300 blk? Just entered the suppressor world and I am studying up on load data for the 300 until my Form 4 is approved. I will also be suppressing 30/06, and 5.56/223 but they are all supersonic. I am gonna cut my TC Encore 30/06 Barrel to 20" and thread for the QD brake, for deer and bear. Lots of experiments there. Thanks for any input on the 300.

If you find something, please let me know. All of the factory loads in my .300 still crack pretty good even though they claim subsonic. I'm going to have to buy the dies and work something up myself.

Lehigh Defense has load data.... pull up the 194 Gr Max Expansion bullet. My buddy down south told me this is the only bullet that truly expands in a sub role. Im hoping to get my can outta ATF jail by Sept so I can work up loads for that Ruger Ranch 300 that fell into my lap for CHEAP! Its gonna be my doe rifle for the second week.

Hope your suppressor is better then mine for 22, one of the 3 dumbest things I spent money on in my life time.

Can't help with the Lehigh bullets, I've never fired a jacketed subsonic round out of any of my 300 BLK's. I cast 235gr bullets from a NOE mold and powder coat them. I use 5.7gr of Unique in my Ruger Ranch. The only thing you hear is the firing pin and the bullet hitting the backstop. I run the same bullet in front of 10.5 gr of AA1680 in my 10.5" AR. The 1680 is really dirty. I plan on trying IMR4227 soon.

I have been loading 194gr ME for last three years for PA whitetail. I use 8.5grs of Lil Gun for my subsonic.

Lehigh isn't the only company that offers bullets that expand with subsonic loads. Outlaw State also makes some great bullets.

I also have the Lehigh 174gr CF bullets, but I haven't used them since the ME have been doing so well on deer.

I don't know why some people are "disappointed" with suppressors...you either never shot one before you bought one or you don't understand the other benefits of suppressors. It's not all about sound suppression...you also get reduced recoil, which is huge if you are shooting magnum calibers...and it reduces muzzle flash as well.

Generally speaking most of the disappointed people I've seen bought either a .22 rimfire can or one for an AR. It doesn't do a whole lot for the .22 and people expect it to make the guns whisper quiet, the gases blasting out of the AR bolt carrier squash that dream pretty quick.

On a magnum bolt gun though it is the best thing since sliced bread, I literally never shoot my .300 WM without it now.

As for the Lehigh bullets, I have killed 4 deer with the 145gr Controlled Chaos at 3040 fps out of a 30-06 with a 24" barrel. One dropped on the spot and the other 3 ran 20 or 30 yards leaving a blood trail you literally couldn't miss.

I've also made a handful of subsonics with the 170gr CF bullets, they expand pretty well going through water jugs but I haven't shot any game with them yet.
