I just bought a used Savage 14 in 270 WSM, the guy gave me a box of federal 130 grn shells with it, what a tack driver, I reload, I never had much use for factory ammo. my hats off to federal, I was puttin nickle size groups with this stuff.
To me it would depend on how much I shot that gun. I had a 300 WSM for a while, and it shot amazing with 180 gr winchester power points. Even though I reload I never did reload for it. Couldn't see the point.
Eventhough factory WSM loads are outlandishly expensive for what they are it can get costly to find a good load reloading. Add up the cost of a couple different bullets and powder to try along with the dies, and any other tools you might need.
I got those power points just to get it on paper the first year I had it. After shooting them I just couldn't see any point in reloading for it when I only shot less than a box a year out of that thing.
