10mm shooters?

Anyone running a 10mm?

Just picked up a Glock 40...big son of a gun, but fun to shoot. I want to use it for woods carry here and as a defensive handgun while packing out elk quarters (I hope!) in CO this fall. Concerns in CO would be black bears and mountain lions, which are known to be around where I'll be hunting elk.

Anyone have some favorite powders/projectiles they care to recommend? Don't need to give me your load data, I can look up charge weights, just curious what people have had good luck with in their 10-mil's, especially Glock shooters.

There are a few guys on 24hourcampfire who carry and shoot them. It is a popular carry gun in Alaska. My recollection is that most guys load it with quality factory 200 grain hard cast bullets like Underwood and Buffalo Bore.

I load for plinking. I use 180 grain Berry's mostly. For powders I usually use Blue Dot and Power Pistol.

Check out the handgun section on 24hour. You'll find a lot to read.

My "constant companion" is a G29.

My defensive loads for two-legged vermin are factory Winchester 175 gr. Silvertips or a handloaded 135 gr. Gold Dot over a stout charge of AA#9.

For all-around utility duty, I shoot 155 FMJ truncated cones over a likewise healthy charge of AA#9

I've been shooting 7.3gr of Longshot under 180gr flat nose bullets that I got for cheap (they're pulls). My reloads run about 20 cents a round, which is dirt cheap compared to factory loaded 10mm.

They shoot better than I do. For now.

I picked up a Lyman turret press on a trade for some other bullets I wouldn't use/miss, so that's helped with loading ammo.

Thanks for the link, though...I'll check it out!
