Whelen Loads

Well, finally got a 35 Whelen on the way! Planned use is for Deer, Bear in Pa, and as my "back-up" Newfoundland Moose/Bear gun. Any good load starts? It's a Muaser with 24" (for now) barrel

Don't let our differences defeat us.

Re: Whelen Loads

I load 59 gr. of IMR 4320 behind a 225 Sierra Gameking with standard LR primers in reformed R-P .30/06 cases..

A lot of guys like Reloder 15 in the Whelen. It wasn't available when I started loading for the Whelen but I intend to try it one of these days....

Re: Whelen Loads

I load 58 gr of Reloader 15 behind a 225 gr. Nosler Accubond..........it is a very accurate load, and it seems to be that way for just about everyone who tries it.......

Re: Whelen Loads

Mine is a Ruger with a 22" barrel........R-15 was also the first powder I tried, and I was more than happy.....
