RELOADING THE 35 REM WITH FTX BULLETS

Just purchased and put together some reloads for this type bullet with the data from Hrdy. By my calculations there is no way with the data that they supply that Hrdy can get the velocities that they claim, unless they are using powder that they will not put in the data. They are claiming 2250 feet a second with a 200grn bullet. I am using every thing that they suggest, gun, primers and powder. Anyone have anyother data to get to the velocities that they publish?

I have not used the hogdon because they didnt use it in their data with that bullet. I'm using the exact rifle/barrel combo as the factory.

you also have to remember they shoot under controlled climates in underground shooting ranges.according to hogdons data 41.6 gr LVR =2116.

Got that. Still they are claiming 2250 ft per sec. I'm sure they are using another powder that they aren't publishing. Thanks for that info. What manual are you getting that from.

Barrel length differences?

I see this data from Hornady's site shows 2050fps as max. vel. out of a 20" tube. I'm not finding the data you're talking about though???? All I see is THEIR loaded ammo listed at 2225fps....and that's with a 24" bbl. I know they were using a proprietary powder to start with....it was supposed to be avail. to the public, though I'm not sure if it is yet or not.

You really under estimated the ramifications of the boondoggle you have just perpetrated!

Re: RELOADING THE 35 REM WITH FTX BULLETS

Hitman thanks for the info. Will try to pick some up. They did say that for every inch of barrel length you get 30 fps more. The test gun for the data on their site was from a 20 inch tube. So I guess the factory stuff would be approximately the same. I just want to try to squeeze the distance out of the gun to see if going to the at new scope is worth it. Still got the 1950's Weaver that Grandpop put on it. Wont take it off unless I could really shoot game out to 200 yards. Thanks again for all the info guys. Still one of the best sites I'm on.
