Lyman DPS 3 powder scale

Anyone use one? any regrets buying it...

Now I don't reload ton of rifle or pistol loads.. I realy can't justify $300 for a auto digital powder scale. But using my 10-10 scale is getting old.. Are they (dps3) really worth their claim? Thanks

Re: Lyman DPS 3 powder scale

i took the lyman dps 3 back i didnt like it compared to the RCBS charge master. but i love the chargemaster its the cats pajamas about every 5 loads ill check it with the rcbs 10-10 and its always right on the money and really time saving. you can seat your bullet while its droping the next charge. i dont know how i lived without it.

Re: Lyman DPS 3 powder scale

About 5 years ago I retired my old Pacific beam scale, I looked at both the Lyman and RCBS. I went with the RCBS 1500 great scale.

Re: Lyman DPS 3 powder scale

so.. you rather add the powder manually as to being automatic like the DPS3 I may as well stick with my 10-10 then... I was thinking fill the hopper.. set the desired grains and hit go..

Re: Lyman DPS 3 powder scale

Everyone has a specific method of loading, I have never seen a need for the extra cost of the automatic dispenser, The electronic scale is much simpler and faster to use than a beam scale, how ever if you are looking for an Auto dispense set up, Mid Way has the Hornady for $224.99 on sale the Lyman goes for $279.99. As I said I do not own either, but at Mid Way the Hornady did get a little better review than the Lyman.

Re: Lyman DPS 3 powder scale

i have a rcbs 5-10, a lyman 1200, and a hornady lnl powder dispensors. all seem to measure the same charge the same weight. the lyman seems a little faster at dispensing; the hornady seems to be a little more sensitive. both seem to dislike flourescent tubes and stray air currents. hornady has a smaller footprint. i use hornady the most.

I have the Lyman DPS2, no complaints.

Every day you see it on the news. Another felons life needlessly spared by inaccurate fire.

Re: Lyman DPS 3 powder scale

A friend of mine has a Hornady Lock and Load automatic scale and likes it.. It's waaaaaaay less than Lyman and RCBS So I'm going with that one.. Thanks for all your input..
