Favorite 30-30 powder?

What is your favorite 30-30 powder? Decided to pull her out of the safe and would like to reload for her.

Re: Favorite 30-30 powder?

I've had my best luck with Winchester 748 ball powder. With a 170 gr Sierra flat point, I can replicate velocity and point of impact of Winchester 170 gr factory loads.

I use IMR-4064.
Ran out of 748 years back and had this around and stayed with it.

I have used 3031 for many a box and never looked for any other using both 150 and 170 soft points.

Re: Favorite 30-30 powder?

I have always used IMR 4320 but since I use CFE223 for my 222 & 223 I am thinking about trying it in the 30-30.

Re: Favorite 30-30 powder?

A user on another forum stated that 3031 was designed for the 30-30.30 grs for 170 gr bullets and 31 grs for the 150 gr bullets.

The answers to all of life's questions are found in the Bible!
