160 grain Hornady FTX bullet ?

I heard and read a lot of good things about this bullet ? I bought some to load in my kids 30-30s.
I played with them with different powders and brass but could not get them to group like plain old round nose bullets?
These were loaded for 2 of our 30-30 Marlin 336s. I went back to the round or flat nose bullets of 150 grains. May try some 170 grain bullets next.

The beauty of the 30-30 is what it is not what it's not. With flat nose 150's and 170's it does what it's meant to do and it does it well. If I need to reach beyond 150 yards I have a 30-06.

I wasn't loading them for a long range shot but to see if they were tighter grouping bullets?
Next i will try them in my old 340 Savage.

They make a lot of sense in a Savage 340. In a lever gun I still think flat nose bullets are a better fit.
