Hornady GMX

Anybody have load data for the 150 grain in 30-06?Powders on hand are H 4895,IMR 4895,8208 XBR,CFE 223 and Superformance.I'm open to buying another powder if really needed.Would prefer not to though.Hornady states it's compatible with conventional data.

Re: Hornady GMX

I don't have a 06 load for you. But i have shot the GMX bullet in my 308 used the exact load I've used with interlock's for years with no sign off pressure. To my amazement it was same impact area on target had to touch nothing. Also was amazed how well they grouped. Hope it helped.

Thanks,I just don't want to compress the powder too much, being they are long.

Re: Hornady GMX

The driving bands on them will help keep pressures down.

I loaded the 165's in the 30-06 and I was not impressed with the exit holes. That said, what I got on each of the three deer I killed with the GMX was a caliber-sized entrance, about a 40-caliber exit, and a big nasty mess in between.

I had one run on me, and he didn't bleed much for about 15-20 yards, then it was a red carpet for another 80 to a dead deer.

All were shot very close....20-25 yards. If I remember my load data correctly, they were leaving the rifle around 2850-2900. I figured it was just too hard a bullet for what I wanted to do, and I moved away from it.

My advice is to drive them as hard as you can safely do it. They need speed.
