I'm pretty new to reloading. I have loaded some 243 and 25-06 with out any issue. I'm in the process of building a savage 338-06 and I tried to form some 30-06 brass in my new Redding full length size die. I cleaned and lubed the die as per the instructions. The first case was stiff running through and became stuck. I pulled the case and cleaned the die more. Lubed the case and bam stuck again. Total of 3 of 3 stuck. Any idea what can be wrong I used the same imperial wax lube as on my other loading adventures. Took about an hour or so to pull the 3 cases. Any advice would be much appreciated.
I was using the imperial dry lube media or what ever its called. I the neck expander is tapered and I just checked goes almost 1/3 the way in the 30-06 neck. The outside of the case after I removed them feels like its not round when you soon it in your fingers. The 3rd try I took the expander and decap pin out to see if that was were the resistance was coming from but still stuck the case. Do you think it would be worth trying the rcbs lube and pad that came with my rock chucker kit?
No I do not have dies for the 30-06. It's not so much out of round but when you spin it it your fingers you can feel high and low spots. And I'm using the imperial wax on the outside and the neck line for the neck. All I have is once fired brass I bought at a gun show. I'm thinking there might be a problem with it.
