22 Hornet

What's a good powder? I reload 22-250, 243, 25-06, 270, and my 338 Federal. Had a Hornet since I was 12 n never reloaded it, but kept all the brass. Was wondering what a "common" powder people use is? Any info would be great! I plan on using a 35gr bullet cause my rifle likes that gr bullet.

Re: 22 Hornet

I use 13gr of Lil'Gun behind a 45gr Hornady SP Hornet with a CCI 500 small pistol primer. The 22 Hornet can be touchy to handload. 1/10th grain of powder can make a difference in accuracy. Good luck

Alrighty then!

Re: 22 Hornet

I worked up two different powder loads for my 10" T/C Contender Hornet.

The first uses the go to powder of H110. The second uses Lil Gun. H110 has always been an awesome powder for the Hornet, but I was quite impressed with Lil Gun.

Re: 22 Hornet

I load 10.5gr of H110 with the Hornady 35gr V-Max bullet. This shoots great in my Ruger 77/22 Hornet.

Re: 22 Hornet

use alliant 2400, myself with excellent results, all the other powders mentioned here also work very well. Accurate 1680, is another iv'e heard works well also. be careful when loading the 22 hornet, casing walls are thin and easily damaged, just pay close attention to what you are doing and should not have any problems
