Load for 44 Mag

I used to load for 44 mag years ago, and I do believe I utilized H110 with 240 and 300 gr bullets. Any pet loads out there that you all feel would be great in a 7.5 inch Super Redhawk?

Re: Load for 44 Mag

Mine is an original Dirty Harry Smith 6 1/2" model 29. I shoot 7.5 g of Unique with 240 LSW for plinking and 23.5 g of WW 296 for hunting. I shot long range pistol steel for 3 years and used the plinking rounds on the chickens and pigs and the full loads for the turkeys and rams.

Re: Load for 44 Mag

I've been using the standard H110 and 240-300gr loads for years.

24.0gr with the 240gr XTP's and 20.0gr with the 300gr XTP's. These are my standard loads for my 9.5" Super Redhawk.

Re: Load for 44 Mag

H110 here also. 23.5 with Hornady 240 XTP and 19.5 with 300 XTP. These loads work well out of my 5" Model 629 Classic.

Re: Load for 44 Mag

Failed to mention that for full power loads I use 240 g jacketed hollow points or jacketed flat nosed bullets. No trouble killing a deer out to 125 yds. or so.

Re: Load for 44 Mag

I use 240gr xtp, with 13.5gr. of BlueDOT./ CCI #300 1250FPS. Super accurate in my Ruger and my buddies Smith 629. Fairly mild but plenty for whitetail! Also very clean
