Trimming question

New to loading for auto pistols, and had a case AOL question. Here is my situation: .40 S&W AOL case length is .850 by the book, all of my cases are anywhere from .839-.847. In a rifle, I'd trim them all the same length, but will it make a huge difference in a pistol? what/how do you do it?

Internet quotes are great, but most are untrue. "Thomas Jefferson"

Re: Trimming question

It does affect the crimp a little. If you are crimping them. I like to trim all of my brass the first reload so that they are all starting at the same point.
