Swift A-Frame .338 Win Mag load???

I was wondering if anyone who has a Swift reloading manual could give me some info. I need the accuracy load and the highest velocity load for a 250 grain Swift A-Frame in .338 Win Mag. Also is it out of a rifle, test barrel, pressure chamber, etc and what length? what are the velocities of these loads? Thanks.

Re: Swift A-Frame .338 Win Mag load???

Swift's loads are out of a 24" Wiseman test barrel, 1-10 twist with Winchester brass and Federal 215 primers. No rifle model was specified so likely a Universal Receiver.

Swift does not list pressures or accuracy loads; only load densities with the max charges. They do show powders with the lowest SDs, also. The load densities are in parentheses below.

The two powders with the lowest SDs with the 250 A-Frame were H4350 and RL-19.

H4350 start @ 60.0 gr= 2362 MV; MAX of 64.5= 2589 MV (89%)

RL-19 start @ 63.2= 2357 fps MV; MAX of68.0= 2596 MV (94%)

MAX velocity was obtained with 72.5 of H4831= 2621 MV and 100% load density.

Interior grizzly north of Tok, AK next August/September actually. Experimenting with some loads right now. Though I certainly don't need the power for PA, I want to settle on a load in the next week or so and use this rifle for bear and deer this year just to become a bit more familiar with it.

Good luck on your hunt. You have plenty of firepower to do the job. Please remember photos when you get back.

Thank you Mutt. I plan on taking alot of pics. It's not a trip that someone like me can afford to do very often. I hope the .338 is enough, but still it amazes me the number of grizzly charge stories that people can relay when they hear you're going to hunt them.
