Game Commission - Mission Statement: As the agency charged
as steward of the Commonwealth's wild birds and wild mammals
for the benefit of present and future generations, the Pennsylvania
Game Commission will protect, conserve and manage the diversity
of wildlife and their habitats; provide wildlife-related education,
services and recreational opportunities for both consumptive
and non-consumptive uses of wildlife; and maintain and promote
Pennsylvania's hunting and trapping heritage. The Commission
fully recognizes that only through an integral partnership with
an informed public can this mission be accomplished.
Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR)
- Established on July 1, 1995, the agency is charged with maintaining and
preserving the 116 state parks; managing the 2.1 million acres of state forest
land; providing information on the state's ecological and geologic resources;
and establishing community conservation partnerships with grants and technical
assistance to benefit rivers, trails, greenways, local parks and recreation,
regional heritage parks, open space and natural areas.
