I have had 2 of them in the past. Both of them were excellent hunters and did well in the house. I ran into 2 issues, every time I went out the door even to go to work they thought they were going hunting and they took to me and not my wife because I was the one that took them on the "fun" stuff. The house pet part did not effect the hunting part at all.

Yes, he can be house trained. Use a crate. I have three that live in the house and they all jump and run their own rabbit. Caxtell here has several little pack champions that live inside.

Be patient. Beagles are notoriously bull headed. Good luck.

I have two in the house.

One I raised from 9 weeks on, the other was like 11 months I think when I got her. She took a but longer to housebreak and learn 'the rules' but she eventually gave in. She's a wiry little thing so that probably has more to do with it than her age.

A male might be a bit tougher on the housebreaking due to marking factor, but if crate trained you should be fine.

Mine hunt great plus they have great obedience skills from the day to day house life, one really gets it, if the GPS collar isn't on she will hang with me outside and everything... The other one, well as soon as she hits the grass she's GONE. Haha. Surprisingly that's the dog I raised from a pup.

Personally I think beagles do better indoors. Beagles kept outdoors tend to howl and bay constantly. Neighbors don't appreciate it much.

Had one in the house excellent dogs. My uncle had his outside and they howled a lot mine a younger sister to his was inside and never heard a peep out of her unless we just came home or was hunting. Funny thing is from inside she always knew when the rabbits were in the yard.

We had three in the house. Two have moved on to the Happy Hunting Ground, and Zoey is retired to the couch. All of them were good hunters and excellent companions.
