What goes for one goes for all. Think about what your asking for and what impact it would have on the resource first before you ask. Most if not all legal for hunting handguns have a much bigger effective range than compound bows and crossbows.

I love my time in the archery woods. It is my quiet time and I use it to reflect and RELAX and get away from the daily grind. I So don't want to hear the booms of hand guns in the hands of more inexperienced, so called hunters who are unwilling or simply too stupid to learn how to handle a pistol in the deer woods. I have hunted with hand guns for 20 years and even with open sights, my 629 was accurate enough to flat hammer a deer at 100 yards with a solid rest. My Encores can put a deer in the freezer well in excess of 200 yards. Archery season is for up close and personal, quiet, low impact hunting, NOT for just going out in the woods to kill or rather try to kill another deer. Get real.

Your always trying to get seasons to suit you. Live with what there is and adapt to them. No need for anymore special seasons. I use a flintlock in the early season see no reason to buy an inline when what I have does the job just as well. same - although I drifted over to using bow just in case a legal buck wanders by. Seriously, Why don't we just put every type of weapon on a giant game show wheel and spin it each year to see who gets to hunt the rut. This thread is hilarious.

It is bad enough with nervous kids and half-blind oldsters out there during archery with hi-power rifles. Reminds me of a guy at the range when I was shooting my Russian .30 caliber auto-pistol. He was determined to impress me with his single shot "Handgun" he was shooting at 100 yards. (Right next to the pistol line) .243, 14" barrel, scope, little bi-pod and sand bag. I asked him if he wanted to shoot standing for a dollar a shot @ 100 yards. Suddenly he had an appointment to go somewhere. Like somebody else said, even if there were not many handgun hunters, there would be a lot of "Wannabe's" if they made a special season.
wampire--I think about 3 years ago they changed the law and you can carry both a loader and bow at the same time. May have changed back by now, check the book.
