Any of you guys on here know about the history of lynch box calls, and would be able to tell me roughly what the value would be of the one I have? I'm in the process of taking pics of it right now to help ID it, but I think it may be one of the "good" ones based on the limited info I can find on them on the web. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Lynch sold the business in 1969-1970 to Allen Jenkins, who moved the operation ultimately to Thomasville, Georgia, where the company continues to produce calls that are still the standard workhorse call of choice for many hunters. Mr. Lynch died in 1974.

Is it by chance a "Birmingham"?

Yes, it's a Birmingham, but other than that, no model number is on it(like 102), and no patent date( like 1958), and the lid says "Lynch's World Champion Turkey Call" , not "caller", like most of the other ones I can find pics of on the net.

A M.L. Lynch, "Birmingham" made originally in Alabama. They were sold with a manual and 45 rpm instructional record....quite collectable to some and certainly a piece of history!

I'll if I can dig up some historical info...The originals are awesome.

I looked at the link, and it's one of the "3 hole" versions, but mine looks different than either of the ones he has pics of. The writing inside mine is different than the top one(but it has the saw grooves on it) and the one lower on the page has lighter wood on the bottom(the box part). Mine is all dark. Let me post some pics of it.

That's what I'm thinking, but it doesn't have the "102" stamped on it, or the "1958", so I'm assuming it was made before then? Also based on what I could find online, not all 102's had the three holes for the toothpics. Don't know if any of the above makes it more/less valuable. Just kind of interested to find the history behind it.

There's another like mine for 275.00. Problem is, you never know if the people on eBay know what they have, or are just trying to make a few bucks

One thing for certain it's a Mike Lynch original, so you have a piece of history in your hands. Depends on how bad someone wants somthing and how much they are willing to pay. But personally, I would not let one go for less than $125.00 just based on its historical value.

When I was growing up, I lived for awhile near Mussel Shoals, AL and knew an older neighbor that had three custom M.L. Lynch box calls that were made for him by M.L. Lynch back in the 60's. (He may have even been personal friend or related) One thing I never forgot about him was his Weimaraner that he used to let me take squirrel hunting and he taught me how to trap muskrats. He had to be in his mid 70's or early 80's at that time and would still run a trap line. Funny how the old timers stick in your mind. thumbs
