So I was thinking last night, seat belts while driving a vehicle are mandatory, but helmets while motorcycling are not. How about Saftey Harnesses while in any climber, hang on, or ladder stand? Should it be mandatory law to have to wear one?
Should Saftey Harnesses be mandatory by law?

Smoking and booze kills more people a year than people falling out of tree stands yet there not illegal.

yeah and while your at it we should be required to wear rubbers when we're hooking up. Just because something bad could happen! Safety first!

Landing on your head is the consequence for falling out of a treestand, most would say they would rather not fall. IMO, strapping in then is a matter of common sense, either you have it or you don't. You cannot pass regulations to make people smarter...

+1. I will not go up my treestands without one. My neighbor felt he never needed one until he fell, broke his neck, had surgey, and got to wear a halo for a while. He now wears a harness. He was lucky, he is still hunting and is not paralyzed. Not wearing one to me is foolish, but there is no need for another law to protect people from themselves.

if i'm in a stand and i fall and die because i didnt have a Harnesse on thats my falt and i dont want the PGC telling me i have to were one. I dont were one i had to watch a video for my hunting test and it sayed that if you fall out of a stand you have 20 seconds to get back in you stand or you pass out because it chokes you while it holds you up so your dead ether way.

jr hunters should be required. It sthe parents duty to ensure safety but some parents are morons.
The new saftey harnesses offer an additional strap in case you fall that can be made into a loop below you to step up and relieve the pressure on your thighs. It only takes 10 min to die when your femeral arteries are cut off
Most of my stands are lock ons but if you are in a climber you are in big trouble if you fall and are suspended from the tree with no steps to get ahold of
Back in my younger day I could shimmy up if I had to but now that I am fat and old I need all the help I can get

I bought my son one of the hss vests for the upcoming season,he will be 12 and using a climber. I personally have never used one, and really should have, been hunting since 12, now 35, always hunted from stands. I'm going to use one now that my son is going if anything at least it's a good example if I'm wearing one. I don't think it should be mandatory though, maybe for kids, definatly not adults.

The new harness straps with the leg loops will not suffocate you, they should not sell the other kind anymore. We have a law that says you have to wear a seatbelt. People still don't wear them. I doubt the PGC wants to be the treestand seatbelt police.
