I would like to know what you are shooting out of your Traditions deer hunter. Off hand I dont know how many grans of powder and what bullet I was shooting but I'm looking to see if there might be something better then what I am currently using/doing.

Thanks

From all I have read, you should use only round balls in a flintlock. Cap and in lines are different. I am loading 80 gr. FF above the .490 Speer round ball and .015 patch.

When I had mine I think I shot around 80 grains of FFg Goex and a .495 PRB. Patches were lubed with some homemade stuff. It shot great.

You need to do more reading.... It doen't matter if its a flintlock or inline. What matters is the rate of twist coming out of the barrel. most modern flint locks have a 1:48 or 1:28 which is perfectlly fine for sabots or any other type of projectile. 1:66 is better for round balls, and will usually cause modern projectiles to tumble in mid flight.

The kits come with round balls so I would think you could shoot them.I'm thinking about using powerbelts. Are they legal for hunting the late season?I will say thinking about killing a deer with a round ball seems appealing to me.They are not real available around here though.
