What kind of accuracy can I expect from a marlin 336 in 30-30 shooting 170 gr corelokt at 100 yards? I have a 3x-9x scope.

The one I used to own ran 1 to 1 1/2 inches at 100 yards with the 170 core loks.

I've had the pleasure to shoot two different 336's and the best group i got from them was around 1 and 3/4 inches, i was using the 170 grains for that group, it seemed like those particular guns i shot liked the 150's better

I've owned 12 336's. Not sure how many were 30-30 but definitely half. Of those the best would hover around 1" groups @100 and the worst would print 3 1/2 to 4" groups @100. Most were around 2".

Depends on the gun..... My Glenfield 30AS (Marlin 336 with a fancy stock) will hold about 1 to 1 1/4 inches at 100 with the 150 gr. Core-lokt but opens up to around 3 inches with the 170's.

Although it has been reported that the older 336's with the micro grove rifling do not care for the new Hornaday Leveroultion ammo, mine does. Consistent 1" groups with it.

Now I have to convince myself to carry it to hunt. Been using it for backup and for a loaner. My first "deer rifle" so I don't want to sell it.

Got 3 Marlin336 in 30-30 all shoot 1 inch or less with 5 ahots brom bags at 100 yards. They like the Remington Green/yellow Cor-loks.

Two of the rifles have refused to shoot the Leverlution ammo (4-5 inch groups) at 100 yds. I've not even tried Leverlution in the 3rd, as why mess with a great shooting rifle. These are guns were bought 2- in the 1970s, and one in the 1963. after all these years it is ammazing to see these groups at 100 yards.
