Siting in my Hotel Room reading another forum where the Posters cant seem to agree on fines for Baiting.

One guy is telling another guy its OK to move Acorns from one site 100yds away to his hunting site. Saying its part of the Forest yada yada and on & on.....

Anyway the confusion is thick with many different scenarios on the Fines and Penalties

Whats the REAL Deal

Had that discussion with a cousin's kid years ago, when the little varmint moved apples from the apple trees, to where he had his climber on my property.

He said you have lots of apples on the ground "down there", what difference does it make if I move them "up here"?

Explained that the difference was his getting my boot up his kiester, if they didn't all get magically transported back where they came from.

What is the real deal? If you gather up food from one spot and put it at another so you can hunt over it, it is clearly baiting. It would be no different than instead of acorns, to go into a cornfield and gather up all the corn you can find on the ground after the harvest and place it near your deer stand, it is baiting.

They tried the baiting thing and it wasn't working for them, so now you can't bait, SIMPLE.

Yep. They also once tried no doe hunting, no bear hunting and look where that got 'em.

At work we have been laying water lines across fields, there is salt blocks and feed all over and ladder stands near them. Some hunters must think it is legal.

Someone in a green jacket may well show them the errors in that thinking?

Some years ago we had an odd little feller show up at our sportsmen's club as a new member. He was from down south, forget now which state? Met him a few times, thought he was a tad weird.

About a month and a half before archery season, a member called one night to let me know they'd seen the guy carrying sacks of apples and other things, off into our woods on several evenings. Took me some time to catch up to the guy and find out what he'd been doing.

He'd decided to give PA bow hunting a whirl and had been building bait piles in several areas that looked like good spots for his opening day stand. Figured he'd check them out and put his stand at the spot that had the most "deer sign".

I explained that it was illegal, told him he had two days to remove the stuff or face explusion from the club. He got a bit excited, said it was perfectly okay where he came from, couldn't understand why it wasn't okay in PA.

When I asked him if he'd read the book that came with his PA license, he said no. He already knew how to hunt, didn't need to read how. We never saw him again after that one year. Don't miss him.

The authority was a trail. Thus the three year sunset provision on the reg. Unless it was specifically addressed by the BOC (deadline was last January for the march expiration).

The reg reverted to being illegal as no action to reinstate the baiting reg was taken.

Any season, bag limit, or regulation can be changed within the framework provided. It takes a proposal at one meeting, and a final vote at the next meeting.
