when you guy's and girl's catch grinners in fox sets do you pull the trap and put a clean set in a few feet away the reason i'm asking is because i have always been told by other trapper's in my family that after you catch a grinner a fox will not go near the set because of the sent some please let me know cause i have some really good fox set's out and i don't want to relocate them

Nope, reset that puppy! I always double-set, any place worth one trap is worth two. There's always a clean set unless you get double possums. However, all that scent in the ground is going to get some attention from any passing canine.

when it come sto reds. RESET RESET and then RESET some more. keep that trap in teh ground as much as you can!

that is 20 some odd reds one skunk and a few possums later... and if i woulda left it set i woulda caught more not a doubt in my mind, same trap from day one to the end. if you set it, they will come kinda deal \:\)

Reset it and 12" should be OK dependingon soil. If it's loose soil go deeper

I had a guy who has trapped a few more years then I tell me...

Foothold traps.. if you think you might end up with a coyote in it, use atleast an 18 inch Cable Stake.....

CR..If your setting where there are coyotes, a 12 inch Cable Stake will hold them!

I can pull a Cable stake out of the ground without the use of a Cable Stake Puller...but a coyote in a CR, can not pump a stake like they can when they are caught in a foothold...to much distance for them that they can not do the jump and pump when in a CR, that is what he had explained to me....footholds, use a longer Cable Stake.. CRs, use a shorter 1!
