just wanted to give everyone a heads up that the shuttle bus service from bass pro to the eastern sports and outdoor show will NOT be available this year! HOWEVER...the Harrisburg mall (the mall that bass pro is attached to) will be offering the shuttle service from inside the mall by the old boscovs store I believe. im not sure about what they are doing about purchasing advanced tickets there instead of waiting in line at the show.

this move seems VERY VERY odd to me and im not sure why bass pro has cut ties w/the show or vice versa. it sounds like some politic'n and like some one pee'd in someones cherrios. i work part time at bass pro and was shocked last night when i was there and learned this info.

I know last year the bass pro was teeming with people in the store, you could hardly walk through waiting to get on the bus to the show so thats probaly why.It would be better to pay 10 bucks for parking across the show building and get a bus ride down.I think they maybe still partnered with them though it would seem odd if they broke ties.

Smart move on bass pros part as far as I am concerned. Why choke the store parking and store itself full when 90% of those people arent going to spend a dime. It keeps a customer like me who would rather go to bass pro than the show from going.

I actually said to my buddy who wanted to go "Im not going unless we also go to bass pro"

I can see more of what I want inside one store than the entire outdoors show. We will see if they really took comments to heart this year with their changed format.

I get tired of seeing the same old junk... yeah I said junk at that show every year. The rod manufacturers, the bow manufactures, the actual treestand manufacturers are never there. Its some hole in the wall archery shop representing them who has one bow or one sight that if they happened to sell it you cant even look at it. Thats not a show!

As it stood last year if you werent there to buy a boat or book a trip you wasted your time, money and energy to see a repeat of the prior ten years.

City starving for money probably had a little to do with that decision. Wants to collect as many 10$ bills as possible. All cars parked around off side of roads get the premium price of 15-18$ parking ticket. Losing THOUSANDS of $$$ by that free parking.

I wonder if it has anything to do with bank of america which is the bank of the bass pro credit card. They denied McMillan Stocks banking services due to them being a firearms related company!
I SURE hope this is the case!

BoA has done it again, too. Reports are hitting the web that they froze accounts of American Spirit Arms (makes AR15's) because they believe American Spirit Arms should not be selling them on the internet.

I'm glad I have no ties to BoA. I don't plan to have any, either, and as long as BassPro does, I will not do business with BassPro. The movement of the busses is fine with me. I'd rather pay $10 to park or go to another part of the Harrisburg Mall to get a bus, anyway.

Screw Bass Pro.....

I always enjoyed going to the show but this is how I started to feel about it also. We used to go every year, but probably stopped going 10-12 years ago for this very reason. Would be nice if they'd limit the number of outfitters there trying to get you to sign up for trips.

Why? Who would that benefit? The more outfitters, the better selection.

I usually spend 3 hours max, but the year I knew I was going on an elk hunt, I was there from Opening till closing. This year I'll be with a group of guys as we look for an outfitter for a Caribou hunt, and also doing an elk hunt with another buddy.

Will be a long visit this year!

The head cheese that run's the sportsman show cut bass pro out of the loop. Nothing more to it, short and sweet!

whats funny is he used to work at bass pro too! im sure bass pro will still get the foot traffic it usually does as a result of the show but atleast it shouldn't clog their parking lot and store like it has in the past

Just my opinion, but it's like looking for a car. Whoever throws the best sales pitch and price is probably the outfitter you're going to use. I would rather look for a hunting trip via outfitters that others I know have used, and read reviews. I find the show much more interesting for demo's and shows, rather than listening to people throw sales pitches to me.

To each their own but I absolutely love going to the show. I spend two full days there every year. I for one wish there were more outfitters. Call me selfish but that's why I go! Have booked numerous trips there over the years and I always enjoy seeing the owners and guides that I've hunted with.
