Habitat work day on SGL 219

For anyone interested on helping make our SGLs better, we (Susquehanna Branch QDMA) will be joining forces again with our RGS NEPA Chapter and the PGC to have a habitat work day on SGL 219. The work date will be Saturday, February 4. We will most likely be doing daylighting or a clear cut. I will post more info here as we get closer to the date.

Well meet at the PGC building at 0830-0900. Were planning on cutting an area off Montrose Turnpike near the fields on the east side of the road.

Bring chainsaws, safety equipment, etc. If you do not have safety equipment you can still drag branches to build brush piles!!

Im looking forward to seeing everyone and putting some trees on the ground.

Thanks!

How did it go? I'm sorry I could not make it up there. I ended up having to fill in as wrestling taxi driver and take my nephews to their tournament. I'm in a rental car too right now so I was on the fence about taking it all the way up there but having to be the taxi made that a moot point anyway. Getting my tax refund this week and plan to pay the last bit of my car off and also finally get another used 4wd cheap: Older Cherokee or 4Runner.

Day went well. We had 13 guys come out to work. The plan was to put 5 acres of Aspen on the ground but due to tree density, we probably put down 3 acres. Started at 9:30 and quit at 2:30. The only breaks we took were to add gas and oil to the chainsaws. I'll get some pics up soon.
