Phil Robertson

So Phil Robertson of DD is asked a question about homosexuals. He answers it honestly and now he is thrown off the show. Way to go A&E..
That shows moral values are so much better then the other reality trash on those channels its unreal....

Re: Phil Robertson

A&E has been slowly writing Phil out of the show per his request. I think it will fly fine without him. I agree, the media obviously will attempt to slaughter him. I don't think it will work. Honestly, I doubt he cares. People who are humble and God fearing have a way of trusting in themselves because they believe God is guiding them. I doubt Mr. Robertson will lose any sleep over it.

These shows are all scripted anyway. Don't follow them at all. May as we'll watch jersey shore.

Why is this off limits? All that evil needs to gain a foot hold is for people of good conscience to remain silent. People of good conscience have remained silent for way to long.

Phil is 67. He is worth 15 million dollars. I don't think he is going to compromise his views. I'm sure he would rather spend more time hunting then doing the show anyway. I'm sure I'd rather be hunting.

There are different forms on the Hunting site, and this is General Hunting Forum.

OK, what was the homosexual question? Want to talk about it on this forum, then lets get the facts.

Re: Phil Robertson

Supposedly the question was something in regards to what do you think of homesexuals. To which he reportedly referred to them as drunken terrorist. I like Phil. But that's strange if true. I highly doubt a bunch of homo's are plotting against are country. If they were it would be the most fabulous plan ever. I heard this on radio this morning.
Adding this. Guys at work saying he simply quoted bible according to what they read online.

When the reporter asked Robertson what he found sinful, he said “Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there. Bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men.”

The self-proclaimed Bible-thumper then went on to paraphrase Corinthians: “Don’t be deceived. Neither the adulterers, the idolaters, the male prostitutes, the homosexual offenders, the greedy, the drunkards, the slanderers, the swindlers—they won’t inherit the kingdom of God. Don’t deceive yourself. It’s not right.”

Phil can say whatever he wants and A&E can respond in any way they want. Still a free country. (for now)

I think that sum's it up.

I also agree with the others who said both A&E and Phil had the right to do what they did. One could think that A&E was wrong to dismiss him, as he should be allowed to have his own belief's, we also need to remember the business he is in (pertaining to the show), and A&E, like it or not, has to protect their image, and cash flow from the show.
At the end of the day, it is still about making money as far as A&E goes, and I am sure they did what they (and their legal team) felt was necessary to protect their interest.
I believe that Phil stated his personal belief's, and due to the backlash, A&E was forced to make a business decision.

Apparently I snore so loudly that it scares everyone in the car I'm driving.

Re: Phil Robertson

They certainly can make their own business decisions as well as the Robertson's. I'm not sure but I think at the beginning of every show Willie says something to the effect that family comes first (may be confusing with Pawn Stars but the point is the same). I hope the whole family tells A&E, no Phil, no show on A&E and moves to another network.

Now to the business of A&E. DD is their money bag, the highest rated show on their network. Now if they want to alienate the audience that supports the show and pays their bill, they can do that. For what purpose though? To gain an audience share that doesn't watch the show anyway. Bad business decision. Phil didn't say this on the show, he said to a liberal interviewer. Phil wasn't intimidated by the question, he merely stated the truth as he sees it. A non issue as far a the network should be concerned with, another bad business decision, IMHO.

A&E merely demonstrated that they can be bullied by the politically correct (liberal thought police) crowd. Another bad business decision as what will be the next issue they are willing to be bullied about. I don't really think the execs at A&E really care if they lose the show. I think they are stunned and don't understand why it is the success that it is. I think they will be "glaad" to see it gone from their two bit network and see themselves slide back into irrelevancy.

Re: Phil Robertson

Phil simply quoted the Bible and stated his beliefs. If he were a homosexual getting fired by A&E for speaking his beliefs A&E would have a discrimination laws suit on there hands and most likely be investigated by the government. I'm tired of the double standard and hate towards Christians.

Ah, I do believe you are correct. Maybe a better way to say it would have been, they just don't have the guts, backbone, or brains to make a good business decision.

If given that the company is run on feelings, I don't think I would be investing in their future.

Re: Phil Robertson

SO when did it become so important to know what everyone thinks about everything??? I mean I watched alot of Cheers back in the day and I had no idea what the actor that played Norm thought about gun control, gay rights, politics...nor would it of swayed my values had I did.

It is the trend in the country that you must be on this side or that side...that is why we get nowhere anymore and 1/2 the country follows this nitwit, while the others must follow the other nitwit.

Independent thinking is dying...no one HAS TIME FOR IT, THEY ARE YOO BUSY..tell me what I should think Katie Couric....

It is funny A&E was running commercials for MSNBC during Duck Dynasty recently , I remember cause I laughed and said "someone sure in the heck does not know this demographic...." guess they got their way after all.

Hope they move.

I'm sure GQ already new the answer to this question before they asked it. It looks like a set up and another way to attack Christians and their convictions.

agreed. I just htink a lot of times when a company (or person for that matter) doesn't make a decision that we agree with, we feel they are swayed by the liberals or tea party or PETA or whatever organization we may not agree with.

The duck calls are only a part of it, i.e. Duck commander, Buck commander, merchandising, speaking engagements, appearances, etc. he gets a pretty penny for all of it. Not sure what the A&E deal paid, but he'd be quit comfortable if he were to loose the gig anyhow....

If you follow the family closely, you will see that the whole clan knew the DD show was fleeting, they said so themselves. They will not renew any new contracts with A&E, some other network my pick them up, if they choose, but I'm sure they are done with A&E, and maybe any future shows completely.

He was a multimillionaire before DD. He'll be fine. He was doing speaking/hunting seminars since the late 80's. He'll be doing them long after DD films its last episode for A&E.
