Winchester 1300 rifled barrel w/scope mounts

Some years ago I bought a Winchester 1300 with both smooth bore and rifled barrels. The intended use was primarily in MI for deer using the rifled barrel and also PA for spring turkey with the smooth bore.

I put a scope on it with less than exciting results. The scope mounts on the pre-drilled receiver. The barrel is simply a slip fit into the receiver.

My theory is that the barrel center line floats with respect to the center line of the receiver, thus any similarity between the line of sight of the scope and the center line of the barrel is purely consequential and temporary.

As a result the scope got taken off and I have been using it with only open sights.

Being a bit of a hard head--I want to fix this problem and get it to work with the scope. I have found complete barrels with cantilever mounts but no after market cantilever mount for the 1300.

So--my questions:

1. Has anyone else had a similar problem?
2. Does anyone have one with the scope mounted on the receiver that is accurate and repeatable?
3. Does anyone know of a cantilever mount for the factory barrel?

Since you currently own everything , the barrel a scope mount , etc. Why not take the gun to a gun smith and have him pin the barrel , or do it yourself if you are so inclined.
Should give you an improvement.

I guess that is an option--which I hadn't thought of.

Depending on who the smith is that does it , I would not expect it to be very expensive and worth a shot , in my mind anyhow.
Some people have even pinned the barrels on their guns that have a cantilever mount , so the pinning has to be worth something.

I looked at it this morning, not sure it is doable. Where it sould be pinned is right were the bolt locks up--it would be risky.

I have to call Bab Hart about another issue and I'm going to ask him if he has any experience with these.

I just got off the phone with Hart. They did fix 870s with this problem by pinning the barrel to the receiver--but as I suspected they cannot do that on the 1300.

Bob is going to see if there is a cantilever mount they can put on. I will talk to him next week at the show about that.
