Andrew Verner Build

So met with Nate McKenzie, ran over the David Keck's. It's gonna be an Andrew Verner style Bucks county, with a 54. Cal c weight 44" rice barrel. I said the heck with it and got Dave's best stock, super tight even curl full length, to give a reference it's was a lot more than the barrel! So just some incise no inlays or wire, let the wood stand out for itself. Single trigger , brass hardware, a pivoting wooden patch box, can't lose it, and a copy from an actual verner! Hopefully August I'll be able to send smoke!

Re: Andrew Verner Build

That sounds sweet ! The Bucks, in my opinion, is one of the nicest styles of longrifle, and not too many people choose it. Nate builds a really nice Bucks County rifle, and he often makes the lock screws an irredesent blue. ( He is a metal Master ) I may have to sneak over there in a couple months to see your gun in progress.

Since I lived in Bucks County for 30+ years, I really like that style of rifle. I always wanted to copy the John Schuler rifle in the Mercer Museum. But a "real" Bucks rifle has a side-opening patchbox with the release being the front of the toeplate. No visible release!

Re: Andrew Verner Build

Nice wood. I'm in Dave's shop every other week. He must have hidden that blank from me.
