Project Healing Waters for Vets

Hello Fellow Sportsmen,
I used to be a Trout Unlimited member here in NEPA.

They have a great project for disabled vets or recovering vets. It's called "Project Healing Waters". It's pretty good!

They have volunteers that go right to the hospital or form a meeting place and teach Fly Tying and Fly Fishing. It is a great help to a lot of vets and we sure owe them!

The website is here: http://www.projecthealingwaters.org/

I'm thinking of joining back up to Trout Unlimited both to go to the great instructive meetings and to meet other Fly Fishermen/Women. I would also like to help out with Project Healing Waters. I will even donate some of my Fly Tying gear and materials and even get them a Fly Fishing rod & reel setup so they can get right into it. Charity is the King of VIRTUES!

If you are a vet or know of one, it would be great to introduce them to this great project and sport.

Good fishing and good hunting! And a BIG THANKS for any help you provide to any of our vets.

Project Healing Waters:
More info and some success stories.

Healing waters run deep in Northeast Pa.

Apparently it's quite a success in NEPA. Most of the activity is centered around the Wilkes Barre VA Hospital.

I hope to meet some friends and get them out fly fishing. I can have them fish at a great spot I know right from my 12 ft. boat. Lots of nice trout there and easy to fly fish from my boat.

That old saying is:
"Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime!"

Not to mention giving a Vet a chance for a fantastic hobby. Fly Tying in the off season, Fly Fishing during the season.

Good fishing!

There isn't much TU involvement in the NEPA PHW unless there are some chapters involved from outside of NEPA. Dave and Heidie Cebrick and a dedicated crew do a lot for our vets through PHW fly fishing activities. Definitely a worthy cause if you can help teach vets how to fly fish.
