I was drawn this year for cow elk tag in zone 5. Im also one of the 15 going back. It was not easy. I thought a herd we were watching would stay in the area weekend pior, It was like the cow elk disapperead. I hunted all over zone 5 and parts of zone 1. I seen many bulls. Sure I did my homework before hand. I was in the right area. Spent time talking to guides, landowner and wardens. I cannot afford a guide. Got married and bought a home this year. Never expected to get drawn for the tag. I would take any help, advice or cow sightings.

Couldn't you find the one you hit?

Any additional harvests in those two units right now is probably a good thing. Those are both problem area units and it is far better the hunters are successful than having more of them hit on the highways or shot causing damage to property and crops. I suspect now that the rut is long past and the elk have moved back to their normal areas the elk they get out of those units would more likely be some of the ones causing problems.
