Fox Squirrel?

Hey guys, I went out this morning and got four squirrels with the 22 lr. But one of the squirrels I got a squirrel that was a lot darker than the other three. I never had heard of fox squirrels in my area before.

Up all night!

Re: Fox Squirrel?

I thought it was a grey, but it had quite a bit little brown in it and wasn't sure. All of them except one I shot off hand at about 30-40 yards.

Re: Fox Squirrel?

ya some grays have some orange in their belly hair. fox squirrels have orange in their back and face hair too. and they are usually bigger bodied than greys.

Re: Fox Squirrel?

You'll know a fox squirrel when you pick it up. they look like squirrel-zilla.

click at your own risk... there's some squigglies showing on this pic:

that's a LARGE red fox squirrel laying next to my marlin 882SSV. if youve seen one of these rifles you will understand just how large this guy is.

I saw his bigger brother today in my treestand. If legislation ever goes to vote to allow a 22lr pistol while archery hunting, i'm voting "HECK YES". those little tree-ninjas tormented the heck out of me today. one came right up my tree and i whacked him with the nock of my arrow. he jumped down and read me my miranda rights.

Re: Fox Squirrel?

I let a large fox squirrel walk Friday, he was the first I've seen on that farm. Took a gray instead. Squirrel-zilla is correct!
