Re: Deer In Rut ?

NO. Excessive heat (60's +) will keep daytime activity suppressed. Think of it this way----would YOU want to run around in the heat of the day while wearing a winter parka?? Neither do the deer. In times of abnormal heat rut activity takes place at night.

NOW....the cold front coming this weekend is timed perfectly to kickstart things. Hopefully next week will be "buck filled".

Re: Deer In Rut ?

the rut has started down here in 5c have been seeing fighting bucks, bucks dogging does, even saw a buck breeding a doe last night. mid day movement is low due to warmth but they are moving earlier in the evening tho. Mid to end of next week it will get good.

Re: Deer In Rut ?

Absolutely. The rut occurs roughly the same time of the year regardless of weather conditions. Although deer can come into estrous as early as September, the next few weeks will be AWESOME!

Re: Deer In Rut ?

Its an early rut. Funny as you get older you can tell just by the way they are acting a few weeks ago. Bring it on !
